How To Set Up A Marketing Strategy To Sell Your eBook

The offer of a free ebook can be an extremely effective way of attracting considerable numbers of viewers to your squeeze page, substantially increasing your website traffic and marketing your brand.

Many business owners fail to realise that as with any marketing campaign, the launch of an ebook should be planned and precisely targeted using a number of marketing initiatives.

With this in mind, the marketing strategy for an ebook should include several elements such as:

Objectives - what is the point of offering an ebook? Driving traffic? Self-promotion?

Tactics - how will you make your target market aware that you are offering a free ebook on your website? Will you mail your current contacts, advertise or write an online taster article?

Measurement - how will you measure how successful your promotion has been? Will you use Google Analytics to measure fluctuations in website traffic? Number of new subscriptions?

Follow-up - subscribers will quickly lose interest if all you do is offer the ebook to increase web traffic over the short term. Continue to add value and benefits to your offerings through personalised messages offering tips, create more ebooks, offer discounts and be sure to maintain communication.

Always ensure that your ebook contains a link to your website, preferably at the very beginning, so that your main objective - driving targeted individuals to your site is given priority. Even if the reader loses interest or becomes distracted and doesn't manage to finish the book, their curiosity will have been roused at the very beginning and so they will have visited your site before becoming immersed in the book's content.

Promoting an ebook is also a great way of collating email addresses from your target market, so remember to ask them to complete only 2/3 fields of information in order for them to receive the document. Make it as easy as possible for them to receive the end product, or else they may lose interest and abandon the exercise altogether. Most website owners will ask for name and email address only.

There are a number of online ebook directories to which you should submit your offering, once it becomes available. One of the most popular is free-ebooks.net.

Offering an ebook on your site is a well used marketing tactic - and it's free! However, as with launching any product onto the market, you should of course integrate this tactic into your marketing mix rather than use it as a standalone measure.

Do you have an e-book but are asking yourself how can I promote it, what is SEO and how it can help? Why not get in touch today?

Turning Online Articles Into eBooks

Over the years, after retirement I have taken many of my experiences, observations, and the knowledge from the various industries I participated in and compiled that information into a series of online articles. I am just trying to give back to a world which is given me so much. Of course one of the challenges I had right away was the fact that I am not a writer, rather I am an entrepreneur and business person. I guarantee you those two types of personalities are not often in the same person, at least not at the levels that I had participated in. Okay so, I'd like to talk about this for second if I might.

Let's say you are truly knowledgeable in your field, you know what you're talking about, and you have put your thoughts and experiences into a series of online articles. Once you have 100 or more of these articles, it might make sense to take those articles and repurpose them into an e-book. What I suggest is that you do is take your articles and make each one of them a subtitle in the e-book, and list them in the table of contents. You should group them together by subcategories, and then create a very nice introduction section, and a section of your e-book at the end explaining more about yourself; the author.

Why do I suggest that you do this? Because in the last year there have been tens of millions of the e-readers sold, not to mention all the iPads. So why not put your articles into a collection, and into a format in which potential readers might enjoy. I can tell you this, I've been to Starbucks each week, and every time I go, there are more and more people who are sitting around reading from their e-readers. Rather than try to fight it, maybe it's time that you acquiesce and took some of that content that you have worked so hard to create and make it available to your future clientele and happy and loyal readers?

Now then, I would not recommend that you just throw together crappy articles, but rather you pick your very best articles, and place them into your collection and then use the proper formatting for your e-book. As long as you haven't written "thousands of articles which are nearly identical with little or no content value," then this should work for you. It's the least you can do to deliver your important knowledge to the world. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

How to Set Up A Marketing Strategy to Sell Your eBook - Selecting A Channel

Without readers, your eBook will fail. It doesn't matter if you sell it on Kindle, your own website or your favourite corner. A book without a reader -- and that includes eBooks -- is meaningless. The question is how do you get readers? What do you need to do to ensure that people find and buy your eBook?

The answer is marketing.

Marketing is the process by which you find your customer, get in front of them, attract their attention and then present your product. It includes sales and in many ways, it includes how you will deliver the eBook. And it begins before you write our book.

Yes, you heard me right. Marketing your book begins before you write a word. In fact, it begins before you even plan your book.

The whole point of marketing is to sell your eBook or book. Or for that matter, any other related product. It describes how you will make a profit and what the products will be about.

So how do you do it?

Well as I've mentioned it begins long before you write your eBook. Arguably, it begins within the determination of the company strategy. More specifically, it needs you to determine your market or micro-market, your business model, your reader and identify your problem and solution. However, for the purposes of this article I'm going to assign those tasks to company strategy development and instead focus on those tasks that are unique to marketing.

As part of the process of identifying your reader, you will have determined how to gain their attention. Basically, you are asking, "Where are they hanging out?" Typically, these are forums, blogs and magazine sites. YouTube and Google are also two key locations that most readers will visit regularly. However, don't ignore your competition and others who deal with these same customers.

Your job now is twofold. First, you need to determine which of these opportunities you will use in order to gain your readers' attention. While it would be nice to be everywhere your reader is, practicality says you need to choose only a few. After all, you only have a few hours per day. And being on forums and blogs all day is probably not a good use of your time.

The second task is to select the marketing methods you will use. Each of these opportunities or channels has several methods you can use to market through them. For example, article marketing, search engine optimization (SEO) and Google AdWords are three alternatives you can use if you select the Google channel. Of course, not all the methods will be useable. For example, reading and responding to blog posts is a method for addressing the blog channel. However, so is spamming blogs. It isn't very effective and it will soon result in your being banned. But it is a method.

Selling Digital Products In Your Spare Time

Are you thinking about starting your own online business? Or have you already started your own online business? No matter your situation, you should know that starting a successful online business is a good thing to pursue. Not only does it require little maintenance, but you won't have to worry about a lot of other things that appear in a physical business. This is especially true if you're selling digital products.

What is a "digital product"? Well it's simply a product that can be downloaded after someone makes a purchase online. The most common form of digital products are ebooks, MP3 files, WMV or AVI video files, newsletters, and even podcasts. It's an excellent business model to pursue - only if you know how to market them correctly.

When it comes to selling digital items, you should know that the best item that you can sell is a product that you created yourself. The most basic form of this is an ebook. You can create a 100+ page ebook over the course of a weekend, and have it ready for sale by Monday morning.

When you create your own products, you don't have to go and get a reseller's license, you have an infinite amount of inventory on hand (since it's digital), and you don't need a lot of equipment. The fastest way to create your own ebook is to type it up in a program like Microsoft Word, and then upload it online to a free "PDF converter" site that will turn it into an Adobe Acrobat PDF file.

You can also price your product nicely also. Since you're more than likely a beginner to selling digital products, you will probably want to start off at a low price. Stick to a price of around $19. After you get sales with this $19 product, upsell your customer to a $29 product. After they buy that, upsell them again to a $49 product. After they've bought that, upsell them to a $97 product. This is how all the major gurus are doing it.

In your online business selling digital products, you will want to add an element to your business called a "continuity product". This is basically a product where you charge your customers every month for a product that gets delivered to them automatically. Some of the best continuity models online is a membership site, a CD of the month club, a DVD of the month club, or even an offline newsletter.

You have a lot of options at your disposal, so you don't have to stick with just using one model. Plus, all of these continuity models are incredibly easy to maintain and create. Plus they cost very little to produce. In the case of a membership site, you don't have to produce anything.

Selling digital products is something that you will definitely want to consider using in your business. They're easy to create, and I think it's something that you can handle with no sweat. Start selling digital products today, and you'll be sure to bring in a lot of sales, with very little maintenance.

Good luck with succeeding in your own online business.

How To Write An eBook To Build Passive Online Income For Years To Come

Writing an eBook can be a daunting experience when you are just getting started with your online business, but it doesn't have to be this way if you know how to begin. This is still the fastest way to create a product and have something to sell on the Internet. Before you get started you'll want to think about choosing an appealing title, setting up your outline, and putting up a blog to start collecting the names and email addresses of your prospects.

You may have heard the saying that a rose is still a rose, but by any other name it wouldn't smell as sweet. This is true for the title of your eBook as well. You want something that is catchy and easy to remember, but also one that has a good keyword phrase in it as well. Do some research using the free keyword tool available from Google, ask friends and business prospects what they think, and go over to Amazon to search for books on your topic. All of these techniques are excellent for choosing a title that will make people want to buy and read what you've written on your topic.

An outline is crucial to the eBook writing process. I learned this the hard way when I tried to just start writing in front of my blank computer screen the first time. Once I learned how to set up an outline with my key points and subtitles, it was simply a matter of filling in the blanks to get it written in less than two weeks. You can do the same exact thing.

I also recommend setting up a WordPress blog to start letting people know about you and your topic long before your eBook is finished and ready to sell. This will give you the exposure you need in the marketplace and allow you to start building a list of people who will be likely to buy when the time is right. Blogging also gives you a platform through which you are able to interact with your audience and to find out their questions and primary concerns on your topic. You may even end up adding to your writing when you find out what your prospects want and need from you in this way.

You can see that there is more to writing and marketing your eBook than you may have originally thought, but it will be well worth it in the end.

Remember that the reason to start an Internet business is to give you the time and financial freedom to live the life you choose. Find out more about writing an eBook to build online income by visiting Write an eBook to learn how to get started today with this profitable online business strategy.
