Learning Some Lesser Known Facts About EBook Conversion

The World Wide Web has come a long way from its basic function of connecting people and make communication easy irrespective of the distance. Today, it has become a hub of information and commerce with millions of people using it to not only carry on their everyday business on the global level but also gain unlimited information on a wide range of subjects. With the ever growing demand for online information, it is only natural that an increasing number of writers and even publishers are considering the option of eBook conversion as a means of reaching out to greater number of people.

Despite the fact that eBooks are being widely used by a big chunk of internet users, not many of them are aware of the process of their compilation. In fact, only a small percentage of internet users can actually distinguish a text written in any digital format from the diverse types of eBooks available online. As such they are also not aware of the truth that not all digitized text formats are compatible with the various eBook readers including applications, browsers and software available online. Moreover, people generally tend to consider eBook production to be the same as eBook conversion, even though the two processes are entirely different.

The basic difference between eBook production and conversion is that while the former involves the completion of all the aspects related to the publishing of a new book, the latter is a process of converting already published or digitized text into a format compatible with the various eBook readers. In most cases, eBook conversion is generally undertaken to provide a technologically advanced digitized version of information available in print or simple digital format without altering its content, structure or styling in any manner. In fact, eBooks have provided a great solution to the problem of preserving original books and manuscripts over long periods of time.

Another vital fact that people generally are not aware of about eBook conversion is the use of various formats preferred by major software companies. Some of the most common formats used during eBook conversion include Kindle, EPUB, DNL reader, Microsoft reader etc. Although each format has its own advantages and drawbacks, it rarely makes a difference to the average end-user, who is just interested in reading the information provided through these books.

Writing an eBook - The 5 Most Important Tips for Newbies

So you've decided you want to have a book. Good for you. Books and eBooks are amongst the best tools for marketing. Whether you are intending to sell them to make money, or giving them away to gain customers. Books and eBooks are amongst the best tools that you can get to build your business around.

But then comes the problem.

How do you write an eBook?

There are a number of different methods for writing an eBook or writing a book. Or more correctly for getting a book. Some are good. Some are not so good. However, for this article I'm going to focus on actually writing an eBook yourself.

Writing an eBook or any long work can be difficult. And working one's way through all of the advice out there can be just as difficult. So in this article, I'm going to give the newbie writer a hand up with five of the most important tips.

1. Always start with the end in mind

Yes, I know I've just quoted Stephen Covey. But the advice applies even more to writing a book or eBook. The effort you are about to undertake will vary considerably depending on the nature of the product. Many traditional eBooks were only 20 pages in length. Or even less. And people do continue to create report-sized eBooks despite the influx of longer Book-length versions. What you are going to use the book for will greatly affect the size and style of the book or eBook. It also affects how much, if anything, you are going to charge. Which in turn also has an effect on the size. Even the format (print or electronic) will be affected by what you are going to do with the book.

2. Always write with a system

Writing is a process. And like any other process, there are two major ways to do it. The successful way and the unsuccessful way. Writing a book length piece -- regardless of its form -- is not a trivial exercise. It's not like writing an essay or writing an article like this one. You need to follow a system based on the type of book you are writing. An attempt to just sit down and write will almost inevitably lead to failure.

3. Know your reader

Writing a book without a reader is like taking a trip without a destination. It can lead to some glorious surprises -- but more likely to a sad conclusion. There is no point in writing an eBook that no one will read. But to be read, a book needs to interest the reader. It needs to draw them into it. To accomplish that, a writer must know before they start what will interest the reader. And then they must write that book. Not the one they started to write.

4. Have a writer's hole.

Every writer has a set of conditions that help him create. Every writer has a set of conditions that prevent her creating. Most writers have multiple sets depending on the task. You need to have a place for each of the tasks in the process. It's easiest if they are all the same place, but they key is that you need to be able to start immediately without any inherent delays.

5. Have a set schedule

Motivation is probably the biggest issue that a writer has. With motivation, they will overcome anything in their quest of writing an eBook. However, it is a great deal easier if you have a specific chunk of time allocated for writing. Be firm. No interruptions. No disturbances. No intrusions. This is your writing time and you need to produce.

How To Easily Use A Very Low Priced Kindle Book To Bring In Customers

Step by step selling is a concept that many successful internet entrepreneurs use very effectively. In fact some will set up an eight, nine, ten or even twelve step process to sell to customers. The reasons are quite simple when you think about it. The customer becomes ever more familiar with you and your services or products and you build up a trust based relationship that results in a sale.

Kindle now offers an extraordinarily easy way. That is simply publishing a mini book at a very low price which gives people great value for money. When potential customers see a product published at a price of under a pound sterling or just two dollars, their natural reaction is usually "What do I have to lose?" This is also very appropriate nowadays as for whatever reason many people want to gain access to information in "sound bites" and either do not want to or do not have the time to read a lot. Therefore a well written book of say one hundred or so pages can do a number of things that raise your profile in your client's eyes. It can establish you as an expert, It can educate your client (every business needs to educate their clients in some way, even if it only to their own philosophy and way of working) Above all it gives you a chance to provide links to more information or your website or a squeeze page. In many ways it is advertising that pays for itself.

So how can you go about setting yourself up as an author. The first step of course is to write your mini book. The way many people recommend this be done is to think of your area of expertise or interest and then consider and write down the ten main problems people experience in your area. You may well say that if you are for instance selling anything to do with wedding or your site sells kitchen gifts that you are not in the business of problem solving. However a book entitled "The ten things to be aware of to make your perfect day just that" in the case of weddings or "Ten simple kitchen arrangement plans that can save you loads of space" would be entirely relevant in these cases. Some people like to write, some don't.If you fall into the latter category, simply record your thoughts in an MP3 file and use one of the very good outsourcing services like Fiverr to have them transcribed. You can also use Fiverr to find someone to produce a great graphic design for your cover.

Next you need to learn how to format and publish your book. Just using a simple search on the search engines will give you a very good start and if this is not enough, there are plenty of books in your local library on the subject. Bear in mind that it has to be done properly or it will not be accepted. However like all things practice makes perfect. Worried about your book being ranked well enough for people to find it? Why not use your Twitter, FB or YouTube accounts to spread the word. In addition go to Fiverr again and find people who will broadcast your book for you to tens of thousands of others.

Getting Targeted Traffic To Your Ebook Sales Page

Want to know what one of the best businesses to be in is? Well, it's the ebook business! You can earn money when you sleep. You can get customers and market to these customers over and over again for more profits. You can put your marketing on autopilot. You have unlimited inventory. And people can download your ebook immediately. All of these factors make the ebook business something that you should join and enter into right away.

But like all businesses, there is some work involved. The hardest thing that you will have to do is drive traffic to your ebook sales page, but I assure you that this is something that is easy to do also. Many people get turned off when it comes to selling their ebook on their website because they feel intimidated by the idea that they have to promote their website. And as we all know... nobody feels that website promotion is fun.

But, it's a requirement if you're going to make a lot of money online with anything that you sell. If you want more sales, you will have to get more traffic. This is very important, and is something that you need to use to promote your products and services simply and easily.

In today's lesson, I want to share with you a traffic strategy that you can use to drive traffic to your ebook sales page, and to get the sales and profits that you're looking for. In fact, let's jump right into it. Here's how to get targeted traffic to your ebook sales page. It's so simple:

- Article marketing

Article marketing is a great way to get more new sales and profits for your ebook. You should write up 400-500 word articles and submit them to the article directories. There are hundreds of them out there, but only the top 5 article directories will bring you the most traffic.

And if you're trying to use some "spinner" software, don't do it. Not only are these kind of software bogus, the results are laughable. Plus, it won't make any sense to the person who reads your article. Plus... it will take you a long time just to edit the article that was produced from this spinner software.

There are many elements to article marketing, and you should know that it all can't be explained in one article. Now you will hear people say that you should be doing "article syndication", instead of "article directory marketing". Truthfully, when you put your article up onto an article directory and someone comes and takes your articles and places it on their website... isn't that the same thing as article syndication?

Nevertheless, I suggest that you submit your articles to the article directories. You can get a lot of direct traffic back to your website, and the more you do it, the more traffic that you will stand to get to your website. I like article marketing because it works, and it's something that anybody can use.

Good luck with using these article marketing tips to get you the traffic that you're looking for in your business.

What exactly are eBooks? They're a way to avoid going to the store to get your favorite book. An eBook can be a guide to an important topic within your small business. It is achievable to make hundreds of dollars each month reselling electronic books with minimal cost.

An eBook is an electronic format of a normal book. The one distinction between a typical book and an eBook is the fact that eBooks aren't published on paper. eBooks are released in a large range of electronic digital file formats (PDF files for example) and can thus be obtained in formats suitable for virtually any electronics device.

Just what are eBooks really worth to a person who doesn't prefer to write? Surprisingly, you are able to publish eBooks even though you're not really a writer. You are able to work with a ghost writer to produce your merchandise or publish a collection in a variety of ways, from obtaining interviews, submissions, or just bringing facts from numerous resources and saving folks the time of looking it up themselves. eBooks also include hyperlinks that enable the user to swiftly proceed to chapters, bookmarks as well as other internal or external links within the eBook. If you like reading, it's really a fantastic way to read your books on-the-go without needing to be worried about a damaged book, or going to the store.

Do not forget that when downloading it, you ought to save the file in a folder which is not difficult to memorize and gain access to. We recommend making your own personal eBook folder in your down load directory.

eBooks are like almost every other books or publications they represent with the exception that consumers or customers have the benefit of instant delivery of the merchandise in the downloadable version. Consumers or recipients either can decide to keep the information in the digital format or to print out and retain the hard copy version.

Reselling eBooks is a terrific way to make extra money on the internet. There are many eBooks available which cover nearly every subject matter conceivable. The eBook offers a faster way for viewers to get understanding and knowledge about a variety of topics. Don't just resell eBooks without ensuring that what you really are offering is of high-quality. You'll want to resell eBooks that are presently sought after in the market place. When possible, you ought to become the author of a few of the sought after eBooks you want to resell again. Make sure that you've got exclusive rights to the eBooks so that you can stay away from any copyright issues and considerations.

What Ebooks Are And How To Sell Them Online

Do you know what an "ebook" is? An ebook is simply an electronic book that can be delivered instantly via a download. Ebooks are digital, and can contain the full contents of a paperback or hardcover book all in one small file. For example, if you have an ebook reader, you could probably download all kinds of books to your ebook reader, and never have to use a physical book again.

Nevertheless, when it comes to selling ebooks online on your website, it can be a very profitable thing. There are people selling $50 ebook packages online, and they earn a lot of money for it. I personally think that selling ebooks are better than having your product sit up in a shelf on a book store.

If you can market your website and your ebook in the right way online, you can experience alot of recurring income coming in on a daily basis - without any intervention on your behalf whatsoever. You can continue to earn money with your business simply and easily, and don't have to call your wholesaler and ask for more supplies of a product. With an ebook, your inventory is unlimited.

One of the most exciting things that you will see eventually in your online business is sales coming in daily. This can be a very exciting thing. Imagine having sales coming in while you sleep. You could work in your pajamas everyday and work about 2 hours a day, then go jump right back into bed. And then make a nice income for the day.

Now there are 2 ways that you can sell ebooks successfully online. You can create them yourself, or you can become an affiliate for someone else's product. If you create them yourself, it will take some time to complete. Make sure it's full of high quality information and not fluff, and you will see that you will receive a very small amount of refunds - if none at all.

Plus, make sure you have a good sales letter page. I can't stress this enough. This is how people will buy your ebook. So if you can fill it up with stories, features, benefits, and a great price... it's sure to sell within a short period of time. You should know that it's not hard to make money with your ebook. It just takes persistence and dedication, and you will be good to go.

Ebooks are still very popular and profitable in this day and age, and you will want to find a way to make them successful when you sell them. They're easy to create, easy to promote, and easy to make sales with - especially if you have the right price.

Market your ebook successfully online, and you will open a door that can potentially be full of profits. But it won't happen if you don't do anything, so you will want to get on the ball today see if you can make ebooks work for you right away.

Good luck with using these tips to earn money with ebooks today.

Turning Your Book Reviews Into Composite eBooks Considered

Not long ago, I was reformatting some old books that I had written, several of which I had posted online as rudimentary eBooks, albeit in an older format to place on to the Amazon website. Why, you ask, simple, so that my loyal readers can read them on their Kindle eReaders. In doing this I had noted how many articles I had written which were actually old book reviews. I immediately realized that the folks that have Kindle eReaders would be interested in reading book reviews so they can choose which future books to load onto that little personal tech device. Okay so, let's talk about this for second.

Yes, on the Amazon website, as well as on the Barnes & Noble website there are folks who give their reviews of the books they have purchased on the site, and that's all well and good. The only problem with that is you have to go to the actual book to find the book reviews. But what if you don't know which books to buy? What if you know you like books of a certain category, does that mean you have to go to each individual book to read what people wrote? What if all of that was in a single eBook?

Well, if you are like me and you have read all the books on your industry, and you know this information backwards and forwards, wouldn't you be the best source for someone who is also looking for books to load onto their eReader in that industry sector? Certainly you would. Further, why wouldn't you share that information and take your old reviews, and repurpose them into an eBook that is nothing more than a collection of reviews. Well, since I've done this, and now that I know how to do it, let me explain how you might go about doing the same thing.

First, you will need to use some sort of an eBook format, and if you don't have one you can e-mail me, and I will send you one (as long as you are not an unethical online scam artist), or you can go to the Microsoft website if you have Microsoft Word, and go to their "templates section" and click on the book category. You will see several there which you can download, along with the table of contents. Simply take the titles of all of your book review articles and make each one of them a subheading, and then post those articles into the eBook. Once completed, load that eBook onto the Kindle or Amazon website, you might also try the Barnes & Noble website and do the same thing.

This will help all of us book lovers, and all of us who have eReaders utilize this information and know which books to buy. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

Writers' Myths: Make Money Quickly By Writing an EBook! - Money! Wealth! Fame!

I normally try to stay out of the whole traffic and marketing field. Instead, I focus on planning for success in writing books and eBooks. But I answer questions from my clients. (Yes, I really, really do that... me, personally).

And anyone who is writing books or eBooks is going to get into the problem of marketing those books. So I get these questions about how to market ebooks. Sometimes effectively disguised as planning for marketing and sometimes not so effectively disguised.

Today, I got an email from a client in South Africa. (You know who you are and no one else needs to know.) And frankly, it ticked me off. Not at my customer, but at some of the pseudo-gurus who've sold him a bill of goods. You've seen these people or at least their headlines... Make Money Quickly By Writing an Ebook. Books Make Money! Wealth! Fame!

Borsht!

Can you make money with books and eBooks? Yes, you can. Especially with eBooks, now that Amazon and the Kindle are doing the marketing for you. Pick your keywords right, price your eBooks low (in the 2.99 - 9.99 $US range) and you'll make some money. How much depends on a number of different factors.

And if you've got an existing business, you can use books and eBooks to make even more money. They can help you to sell product or services. In fact, they can create a reputation for you that draws high value to your business, while it's gaining you new customers. So you end up winning both ways.

There is no question that writing books and eBooks can be the basis of a valuable business.

The problem is the promises that are made around that business. "I can show you how to make $10,000 a month in 30 days". "I can have you selling $100,000 a year in 2 days" Right, we've all heard the claims. And in 30 days, they'll have shown you how. Or sent you the eBook, which will take you about 2 days to read.

The result is that people like my customer end up putting the comma in the wrong place and end up believing that they can make a living on the internet, which is fine if you have a job and aren't looking for a way out of the dole queue.

The thing is you can make a living on the internet by writing books and eBooks. It is possible to build a real business. In fact, there are several ways you can do it. However, building a business on the internet is just like building a business anywhere. It takes time, energy and money. If you don't have the money, you need to put in the time and energy. If you don't have the time and energy, you need to spend money.

There is no free lunch.

The Real Reason You Are Not Making Money With E-Books

Far too many people find themselves feeling confused and frustrated by the fact that they are not making money with e-books. In my experience, there is one basic reason why you are not making as much money as you would like to be making in this business. In fact, people who make the changes necessary to correct this problem typically get incredible results fairly soon thereafter.

The major reason why you are not making money with e-books is because you really haven't gotten started. In other words, up until now you have done a lot of research and thinking. You may have even purchased a few different products here and they are designed to help you get an e-book publishing business started. But what you have likely never really done is focus on publishing one e-book and then spending an entire month doing everything you can to promote it.

For a lot of people, they do eventually get around to publishing their very first e-book. However, the process seems to take forever. By the time they are actually done publishing the e-book, they are ready for money to start coming in. However, it doesn't work that way. Creating the e-book is only about 10 to 15% of what it takes to make money in this business. The remaining 85 to 90% of your effort, time, and money needs to be focused on marketing and advertising.

People who spend a lot of time focusing on promoting their e-book will have a much better chance of being successful than those who instead focus on making their e-book grammatically perfect. Does that make sense? In other words, nobody's suggesting that you produce a poor quality e-book. On the other hand, just having written an e-book isn't going to make you any money. The real money comes from devoting the time and effort that's necessary to promote it aggressively.

To the extent you are really serious about making money as an e-book publisher, then you need to understand that your primary job is going to be selling and marketing the e-book itself. That's where the real money is made. It really helps if you're following a step-by-step blueprint that shows you everything that you need to do to successfully promote and market an e-book once you have it created.

The real reason you are not making money with e-books is because you have either not created in the book, or if you have, you haven't really spent the time and money necessary to promote it so that it can actually make you money.

Can Virtually Anyone Launch Their Own Successful E-Book Publishing Business?

Many people often wonder whether or not it's possible to generate some useful income on the Internet with e-books. As you probably already know, e-books are becoming increasingly popular. There is a simple formula that many successful e-book publishers have used in the past, are using today, and will use in the future to make a lot of money in this industry.

That formula basically revolves around the idea of figuring out what topics people are interested in and then producing e-books that contain the advice and information that people interested in those topics are seeking. That's basically all there is to it. Obviously, there are a lot of other details and need to be taken into consideration as well. But the truth is, it's easier than ever before to make money on the Internet publishing e-books.

One concern that a lot of people have is whether or not they need to personally be able to write the e-books that they publish. Nothing could be further from the truth. Stop and think about how large publishing companies operate. For the most part, various authors are responsible for creating the content. The publishing company focuses on marketing and sales.

When it comes to e-books, your primary goal will be to generate sales. While it's certainly true that you can author and the e-book if you'd like to, it's not required. Some of the most successful e-book publishers in the marketplace today don't bother with any of the content creation themselves. It's far easier to either acquire the content or to have a topic expert create the content using their own knowledge and expertise. This is truly a win-win situation because people who buy the e-book get genuinely useful information and you as the e-book publisher can rake in easy profits.

You definitely owe it to yourself to seriously consider the benefits associated with launching an e-book publishing business. Not only do you get to set your own hours, but you also have the opportunity to work from virtually anywhere in the world where there is an Internet connection. The money can be really good, too. In fact, it it's not unusual for somebody to be able to generate some useful income within 90 days of launching their e-book business.

To the extent you're interested in making a lot of money with e-books, it's certainly possible provided that you're willing to put in the effort.

Overcoming Procrastination to Write an Ebook

If you've only written articles, writing an ebook may appear to be a daunting task. Writing the ebook may seem like an insurmountable task. Before starting to write you find all sorts of distractions instead of writing.

Research is a common way to procrastinate; you convince yourself that you are being productive with your work on the ebook. You tell yourself that you must be very knowledgeable before you can start writing. Despite all of this denial, you probably really do know that you are procrastinating.

Writing an ebook is no different from writing anything else.

The following is a process for writing an ebook:

- Come up with a theme or focus for your ebook. This topic is very significant because it's what you are teaching the reader.

- Write down ten working titles. A working title is a title that could possibly be used for your ebook. It has to capture the theme. It's important to come up with ten because the title you choose is the first step of your ebook.

- Write an outline, even if you despise doing so.

- Write one chapter every day the same way you would write an article every day.

- Revise your ebook.

- Make the revised ebook into a final draft.

- Format the ebook to make the appearance appealing and save to a PDF file.

- You are all finished!

Outlines are Very Helpful

Writers can be divided into two groups: people that outline before writing, and people who don't. If you're not someone who outlines now, it's important for you to start. Eventually you will realize that to work quickly to meet deadlines and outline is a necessity. Also, your writing will improve greatly when you start outlining.

All that and outline is, is a list. You should definitely outline your ebook so it doesn't change too much while you are writing it. It will be difficult to complete without an outline because the general focus will constantly change.

Start out with just a list of the chapter in your ebook. See each chapter as an individual article that revolves around a central idea. Even if you are pressed for time you can still get a chapter done each day.

Break Each Chapter into Parts

If your ebook still seems intimidating after making a list of chapters, try to write each chapter one paragraph a time. A method of doing this is to write fifty words as soon as you turn your computer on. This shouldn't be too challenging for anyone. After a while you will probably find this method slow and you will speed up. The words will come to you more easily and the ebook will be completed more quickly.

Now you can write an Ebook!

People can make a lot of money writing ebooks, whether it's for people, or as a source of income. The main obstacle when writing is getting overwhelmed and having trouble completing it. By now you should have a good idea on how to write an ebook.

5 E-Book Selling Tips

E-book selling requires that you are knowledgeable about the common ways of internet marketing. Experience is very important here. If you have an idea as to how products move in the internet, then you will have an easier time generating sales for your e-book. If you are merely a content creator and not a marketer, it's probably best that you seek the help of someone who has experience in the field. Make no mistake about it, e-book selling shouldn't be that hard. But if you are inexperienced marketing-wise, things can get very complicated. To help you get started, below are a few tips on how you should sell your e-book online. Implement these tips and you will surely see a substantial increase in your sales.

1. Create an attractive and eye-catching cover for your e-book. The adage "don't judge a book by its cover" doesn't apply much in online marketing. The more eye-catching your e-book cover is, the more people will be interested in purchasing it. It really is as simple as that. The cover is the very first thing that your customers will see on your product. If it's poorly made, people will easily assumes that it has poor content as well. That said, invest your efforts in creating a really attractive e-book cover.

2. Gather testimonials before you offer your book to the public. This is one of the most common tricks of e-book selling. Testimonials are proof that your e-book is indeed valuable and people will benefit from it. To get these testimonials, have your e-book reviewed by several individuals first before you offer it to the buying public. If possible, you should get these testimonials from webmasters or bloggers that belong to the same niche as your book. Show your potential customers that the testimonials are real and that you did not make them up.

3. Set up a blog and website for your book. In fact, you should set up the website long before you offer the e-book for sale. In essence, the blog and the website are marketing platforms. You use them to drum up interest towards your e-book. You can set up a blog which is separate from the main website or you can put them together in a single domain. It's up to you. What really matters is that you should have a website which acts a resource site for people planning to purchase your e-book.

4. Offer a few chapters for free to give your readers an overview of what to expect from your book. This technique works very well. You simply allow people to download sample chapters from your e-book. If you are confident about the quality of your product, this should not be a problem at all. If people like what they read from the sample chapters, they'll likely buy the whole book.

5. Promote your e-book in every conceivable online platform. Make use of social media sites, forums, and article directories to build hype for your e-book.

These e-book selling tips should get the ball rolling. If you apply them often enough, you can easily double or even triple your sales.

Sneaky Little eBook Marketers Aren't They?

Back in 2010, someone had contacted me and offered to take my articles and make them into collections and compilations using a special format so they could be distributed as e-books. The concept made sense to me because I have an abundance of online articles that I have previously written on various topics. Each of these topics of course could indeed be an e-book with let's say 50 or more articles.

Indeed, I had considered the offer, until the individual told me some of the tricky marketing tactics to make sure the books sold, for instance he would put up positive reviews under a fake name. But in reality the lack of integrity of such a marketing tactic is destroying what could be a very lucrative market for a good number of e-book authors who are in specific niches but cannot find publishers, especially at a time when the publishing industry has about had it.

Over the last several months, I have been rewriting and editing previous articles and putting them into e-books. It is quite time consuming and takes a lot of energy and effort. Indeed, I do feel is worth it, as it is another avenue to get my information out to the world. Sales have been pretty good, which is nice, although that is not my sole objective, rather I want to get my information out to as many people as possible. One thing I have noted is every once in a while I see the e-books have been returned.

I find this rather problematic because someone could read an e-book in one night, and return it within 24 hours. In which case the authors are not paid, and it almost looks as a strike against them if they're e-books are being returned. When this happened to me, I was rather miffed, and therefore I traced down the purchasers to see what they were doing, and more specifically why.

Once I found out, I decided to discuss this with other e-book authors. Therefore, I asked a group of eBook authors and book sellers; if anyone had noted other authors who buy an eBook from you so that they can be listed in the "those who bought this book also bought" to get their book listed at the bottom of yours, then return your eBook after they've gotten it listed in that space? It seems rather unfortunate this is happening, worse, I don't like the idea that someone returns a book, which makes me look bad.

Well, at least they didn't write a negative comment or review, however it seems that folks need to get a little more integrity rather than try to game the system. Indeed, this is of course, my opinion, and I suppose those who are using this tactic have a different one. So the question I have is this; why is it that humans are so dishonest, disreputable, and lack integrity. It seems as if every time someone starts making money, or doing anything, then a bunch of lazy people come along, and they wreck it for everyone.

Now then, I know it is human nature to do as little as possible and get the most for it. However, the lack of integrity in our society, and specifically on the Internet with all the fraud and dishonesty is really destroying the Internet, which is undoubtedly the greatest communication device ever created in the history of mankind.

Well, it is humans after all who are using it, and the humans are the problem. That is my assessment of the issue. Too many lazy people out there who don't want to work, and they are willing to cheat to get ahead. Maybe they are still waiting for their stimulus package too? Please consider all this and think on it.

Thinking of Ebook Formatting? Know the Media Devices

.Every day I get questions from customers asking about formatting their ebook. This is not unusual as that is what I do, but what is difficult to understand is why they do not understand the medium they are trying to "advertise on."

"I am viewing my book and there aren't any spaces between the paragraphs."

"Why won't my font display. I have it embedded properly."

It all comes down to this... readers (people) will read your ebook on a variety of devices and Apps: and every App and Device will display your book DIFFERENTLY -- every one.

These 'concerns' are valid -- but in the first instance, there were spaces between paragraphs -- just NOT on the App she was using. This was a flaw with the App itself. Additionally, the font was embedded properly; Adobe Digital Editions refused to display it, while Kindle Fire and the iPad were fine.

Know what you are up against

Digital eBooks. Understand the technology you are considering. eReaders vary, and while you may want your book to appear like a printed book on every device, that just isn't possible (yet).

Digital books stem from HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). The latest is HTML5. Not all ereaders or Apps utilize HTML5, so you are having to adjust your layout for various e-readers.

Example:

Fixed Layouts. Many Childrens books are fixed layouts. Full page color images with text overlaid. Beautiful on the iPad and Kindle Fire. but this type of format does NOT display on the Kindle. You can only upload ONE file format to Amazon for publishing, so be aware how it will look for BOTH the Fire and basic Kindle.

In Addition IBooks and KIndle have their own twist on the code for fixed layouts -- so you have to create two separate files.

This is just one of the frustrations authors and formatters are up against in the ebook formatting world.

Buy a Device

Amazon is the most prominent source of e-books. So, spend a little $ and get the cheapest reader they have. If you are going to sell your wares you want to be able to see how it looks.

Example: If you were to place a classified ad in a newspaper, you would probably buy a newspaper to make sure it is correct, right? Not a preview of the ad, but the actual ad itself.

TV or Radio? You wouldn't create a radio spot and then not listen to it live on the radio. A lot can happen between the final master tape and the actual airing.

So when you consider publishing in digital form, consider buying an 'actual' e-reader device. It not only will help you become more familiar on how digital devices work but will give you a better understanding of what to expect.

Side Note

I realize that it isn't possible to purchase every e-reader device. And you may think that the reader Apps for your computer or phone would be fine. Well they are... and they aren't.

For Example:

Not ALL e-readers will display embedded fontsNot ALL e-readers will understand the HTML5 or EPUB 3 standardsSome Apps fail to display the non breaking space between paragraphs (Kindle for PC).As of today (3/22/2012) only the Kindle Fire is utlizing HTML5 full capabilities: the older Kindles and the Kindle Apps (ie for iPad and iPhone) are lagging behind.)

There is a slew of other issues when comparing e-readers and Reader Apps. Your best bet is to have an actual device and then use Kindle for PC/Mac; Sony or NOOK Reader for PC/Mac, as well as the most recent Kindle Previewer.

CONCLUSION

Purchase a device of your own and find "friends" or colleagues who would be willing to view your book on their devices.

And above all -- purchase your own book to make sure the product delivered is flawless.

Another Note: what you see in the Kindle Previewer is not "exactly" how it displays on the Kindle Fire, Kinde, or the Kindle APPS -- it's close but not exact.

SEO And Copywriting Tactics For Your Ebook

Would you like to learn some great tips for marketing and promoting your ebook online? If so, then today's lesson will be of some benefit for you. If you've ever tried selling ebooks online but have never gotten the chance to get any sales, you shouldn't give up. All you've done is discovered a few new ways of what NOT to do when marketing your ebook.

And this can be a good thing. You could take what you've learned when promoting your current product, and put it into use when it comes to promoting another product in a different niche. I would say that the toughest thing to do when it comes to earning money and getting traffic to your site is by using "search engine optimization" (SEO).

SEO is something that constantly changes, and it's tough to stay on top of these changes while trying to balance out all the rest of your marketing strategies. But you don't have to bet the farm on search engine marketing... all you really need to do is to implement the basics, and wait for visitors to come to your website.

Another thing that you will need to do if you want to make your ebook a success is to have a strong sales page. It's tough to get alot of sales with limited sales copy. If you don't have the money to hire out a copywriter, I think you should find yourself a "swipe file", and use it to guide you when creating your sales letter.

The most important thing that you will want to focus on in your sales letter is the headline. Without a strong and compelling headline, most people won't want to read the rest of your sales letter. You have to lead with your biggest benefit first, and stress the result that they will achieve after taking action and buying your ebook.

If you need help with this, then there's a simple copywriting strategy that will help you out. All you want to do is to get out a sheet of paper, and make a "T-chart" about your ebook. On the left side of the chart, write the word "Features". On the right of the chart, write the word "Benefits". Then, for each feature that you create, come up with an equal and opposite benefit.

This procedure will come in hand when it comes to creating the bullet points of your sales letter. Your bullet points are simply the area of your sales letter where you tell your reader what they will learn inside of your ebook. Truthfully, your bullet points should be like "mini-headlines". They all should be intended to revealing some new technique that they have never heard of before.

You will also want to focus on the closing part of your sales letter. Make sure you have a good "PS" at the end that reiterates what your sales letter was all about. Mention what they will receive and mention the money back guarantee that you're offering them. Creating the sales page for your ebook isn't hard, you just have to have the right tools to do so.

Good luck with using these techniques to make more money with your ebook today.

The Virtues of eBooks and eReaders!

Both eBooks and printed books are quite similar, by that I mean they are both rich in content and contain a huge amount of information. Whatever you see in a printed book you can usually get in an eBook. Having said that eBooks are basically similar to an offline website and can offer a great deal of flexibility when it comes to the presentation of them.

As soon as you buy eBooks online they can be downloaded and stored onto your PC or eReader to be read offline at your leisure and with the user friendly tools included you can navigate your way through them with ease, perform relevant searches and stop off on any particular page you like.

Unlike printed books, electronic books are designed to be interactive and could contain live links, graphics, forms, Java Script, embedded video, audio, animation and more. The reader can find any items of interest contained in eBooks just by using the Hyperlinks and internal search engines which enhance the navigational experience of using eBooks and eReaders.

Printed and electronic books are both equally functional and provide a purpose. What the eBook has which the printed book does not is the complex software required to read it.

New technology of any kind invariably causes ripples of excitement and anticipation around the world and eBooks were no exception. Initially intended for use in the academic world, eBooks are now available to everyone, anywhere and just like all other changes and inventions the eBook has excited some but not others.

Whatever your opinion of the eBook is, one thing you cannot deny is their low price, due no doubt to there being no printing costs, storage fees or postal charges included, a very attractive and welcome proposition for any buyer.

eBook offer many great features. Firstly they offer a wide ranging content search so you can find the information you need almost immediately. eBooks can offer multimedia effects such as audio and visual clips, which augments your reading experience. Some can even provide what is known as scripting opportunities, enabling the reader to have a say in the outcome of the story.

eBooks can be a particularly good way to entice apathetic child readers to this necessary skill. For people who already enjoy reading, however, the eBook may prove less pleasing in appearance when compared to the printed book.

eBooks are also less cumbersome, which makes the storing of them very efficient indeed. When storing on a CD a model eBook without pictures can use up very little memory and could perhaps store around 500 eBooks. eReaders are of course better equipped to store a great deal more.

In today's society just about everyone is somehow entangled in life on the go through the use of iPods, laptops and notebooks, iPads and mobile phones. Portability is the key for eBooks which makes them very compatible with this kind of lifestyle.

Due to having a backlight feature eBooks can be read in low lighting making them particularly easy to read at night or when travelling. Procuring eReaders and accessories can be an expensive task though, so it pays to do your homework beforehand to make certain you buy the one that offers all the elements you need. One of the most important elements of an eReader is its battery life. A long battery life is essential when using portable reading devices for reading eBooks.

When you buy eBooks online there are some things you should be aware of in advance. eBooks are the subject of copyright so they cannot be shared with others as easily as printed books. Some versions may only be downloaded to a specific location and once downloaded, although permanent, are not transferable. You don't even have to purchase one eBook at a time as many of them can be purchased in bundles and once payment has been made the entire bundle is sent electronically in an instant, saving you time and money. Finally, eBooks which are written in Unicode can be changed into various languages just by using some simple commands. It pays to check all this out before you make your purchase.

4 Must Know Tips To Reselling E-Books

Reselling e-books can be a very profitable decision. E-books for resell are extremely profitable because of the plain fact that after recouping the initial purchase price, you are essential making a 100% profit on each purchase. When you add up all the potential sales with those kind of profit margins, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that you will be making quite a bit of profit, very fast and easily.

However, there are a few tips that you should consider when you decide to sell or resell e-books. Now, I will have other a few more recommendations and some freebies of my own to give away at the end of this article, but here are four "must know" tips of reselling e-books.

E-books have great potential for high profits - When you are able to sell and resell e-books because you have purchased the private label rights, you can boost your profits very quickly. When you consider that most retailers, booksellers, have to pay for their books first or at least extend their credit to having their inventory stocked up, having e-books that you can resell eliminates this problem completely.
You Can Sell E-books in a variety of effective ways - Whether you wish to employ using social media, article marketing, YouTube marketing, have your own website or any number of ways, you can sell and resell your e-book quickly. I would consider testing out which you feel more comfortable with or use a hybrid combination of many. Many people are finding a tremendous amount of success using Facebook, MySpace, and other social networks to sell their e-books fairly consistently.
Developing your email list should be a priority - If you haven't already done so, you must start your own email list right away. Having your very own website is great for building your email list because it allows you to offer something in return for getting your visitor's email. In addition, you provide a "landing page" for visitors to check out your available product. If they are interested, they will sign up. You're job is to send out email reminders, product tips, or even discounts on your products to entice them to buy.
Treat your customers like gold - Your customer are the lifeblood of your business. So offer them a couple of freebie bonuses to their purchase! This creates an increased level of "goodwill" that will benefit you in the future. After all, we all want a pat on the back once we purchased something, right? Providing a free bonus (or bonuses) allows you to embed more information about your products or services. Having targeted messaging directly to your customer can provide greater referrals and build credibility.

Selling e-books is a fun and really convenient way to add another income stream to your monthly salary. The great news about e-books is that it's a growing industry, especially with devices like iPad, Nook, and Kindle increasingly being bought.

By no means is this the only page you'll be visiting today. However you can still leave with a personal gift that'll make a direct impact on your income.

4 Free Home Business E-Books

Today I'd like to share with you four of my favorite free e-books written specifically for people who want to get the most out of life and business.

The first free e-book is called "You 2.0" and it helps readers quickly find their their why, how, values, strengths and their personal success patterns. Once these are mapped out, an individual has a firm foundation to be his or her best in any situation. By finding and living this process, individuals are able to lead a life by design, not by default. The author, J. D. Meirer from SourcesofInsight.com titled the book 'You 2.0' because it's about renewal and taking yourself to the next level.

Number two on the list is called "The Zen of Results". Focussing on personal productivity, this guide addresses the question "How do you do less, but accomplish more?" I'll give you a hint: You focus on meaningful outcomes. When you're working on what matters, you feel good about the time you spend working. You're on your path.

Moving on to the third free book, Charlene Kingston from Social Media DIY provides a very useful e-book called 5 Truths About Working From Home. It covers these points:
How to create a healthy and effective workspace.Building a success team to support you.Health tips for using a laptop computer.Overcoming the isolation of working from home. How social media helps you to stay visible professionally.Finding people to help you with challenging tasks. Why your daily schedule and routine are important

My final recommendation is Soni Pitt's free guide to teaching distance courses via teleclass. As you may know, a teleclass is a class that is held in a "conference call" format over the telephone. People from all over the world can attend the class from the comfort of their homes, using just their regular telephone or Skype. Offering teleclasses is a perfect fit for a home-based business, and technology such as free conference lines and cheap long-distance rates makes it simple and economical.

The teleclass e-book covers:

• what is a teleclass?

• how do teleclasses work?

• teleclass benefits (why would I want to offer teleclasses?)

• how much does it cost to offer a teleclass?

• teleclass tips and etiquette

• teleclass resources and technology required

• where to get training as a teleclass leader

• where to list your teleclasses online

There you go: four e-books that offer super information for home business entrepreneurs at the very best price - no charge whatsoever!

There are some great free home business e-books out there if you know where to look. You can download each of these e-books on the HomeBusinessWiz.com free book page.

Kindle Fire Product Review

I recently purchased a Kindle Fire, replacing my original Kindle, which had seen increasing use over the last few years. Ironically, the Kindle Fire was purchased at a traditional brick and mortar establishment, as I wanted to check out the size and weight of the device prior to purchase. I use the term ironic, as these types of devices may represent another building block in the future demise of the brick and mortar operations selling them. My decision would be Kindle versus Apple iPad, with size, weight and interface key factors.

My immediate take on the Kindle Fire was very positive. It was larger than my original Kindle, but small enough to be considered a book substitute. I found the screen much easier to read than my original Kindle, and it offered all the advantages of a color display. Two major enhancements included the ability to browse the web and to download apps, including very important and useful apps, such as Angry Birds. The web browser works wherever one can find Wi-Fi access, including HotSpots. The Apple iPad was also very impressive, offering greater functionality albeit at a larger size and weight, at about 21 ounces compared to the 14 ounces of the Kindle.

I purchased the Kindle Fire for, selling for $199 as of that time, and was on my way. The Kindle Fire is almost like having your own personal public library in the palm of your hand. Many classics are free, or very inexpensive eliminating the need to drive to a bookstore or local library. The Kindle Fire, and perhaps eReaders in general, offer an expansive personal library, allowing users to specifically (or randomly) choose almost any new book sample or classic. Striving to mix in some of the classics with my recent business selections (Blink and Steve Jobs) I also downloaded: Mountain Interval (Robert Frost), Prufrock and Other Observations (T.S. Eliot), Walking (Thoreau) and The Wreck of the Hesperus (Longfellow). These are not entirely random as the appearance of several characters in Woody Allen's movie, Midnight in Paris, provided the catalyst to review some of these works. And that's one of the great advantages of the Kindle, within seconds of hearing about, or thinking about a book or an author, you can be reading a favorite classic or contemporary work.

Amazon also offers a Kindle Owners' Lending Library program ($79 per year) which provides a free library of books (currently about 5,000) and access to a free video streaming service with over 10,000 movies and television episodes. It also provides free shipping on Amazon purchases and is essentially a "no brainer" if you purchase a book or more per month, as the estimated costs would be over $100 per year to do so.

The Kindle Fire supports web surfing and downloading and streaming of video. I use the former often, but have not yet used the latter. The Kindle Fire, eReaders and tablet type solutions will change future consumption of content. I've seen friends who I would consider "technology laggards" rapidly adopting eReaders and tablets. The convenience of being able to transport a dozen or more books on any vacation or business trip, sample any book before purchasing, changing font size and brightness to accommodate personal preferences and access to a growing online library are just a few of the catalysts driving behavioral changes. Though not all books are yet available on the Kindle, I've seen estimates of 650,000+ and I'm sure this will grow rapidly to accommodate consumer purchasing habits as more people move to eReaders. Bottom line, as of this writing, I think the Kindle Fire is a great solution for almost anyone who likes to read.

Books: The Often Hidden Information Source

I like to think of myself as an information specialist, savvy at finding what I need to know. I work in the academic world partly within a university publisher and partly within a university library; I should know something about information searching and accessibility. Yet I notice that finding information in books is tough. If I use my free-time interest, woodworking, as a concrete example, I am often interested in finding descriptions of furniture collections in historical houses, to use as inspiration. The typical scenario is that I figure there should be any number of books written about the history of European manor houses, which tangentially will include photos and descriptions of their contents, but I do not know in advance which books these are.

In the old days, one went to a library and using the cataloguing system tried to find sections with relevant material, but since I was usually looking for content which was not the main purpose of a book, this often did not work particularly well. In the digital age, one would suspect that this should have changed. Books all begin life in an electronic format, from which a printed edition is created and hence it is logical to expect days their content is searchable. However, visit virtually any library and one finds that the systems for looking for books have not changed much. Catalogs are now computer-based, but their content is not so different from the old card-based systems. In effect all you can search for are title, selected keywords (few) and authors' names.

So what does one do? The Google Books initiative has been controversial, but from the perspective of an information searcher, it is a godsend; finally it is possible to search in the full-text of a large number of books and while it may not be possible to read an entire book, it is usually possible to read a page or so around the content of interest. If nothing else, it allows one to know what books to look for in a subsequent visit to the library, or it allows one to make a more informed judgment about whether the book is of interest to purchase. The adversity to Google Books has come from some publishers and authors. I definitely believe that those that produce books should be paid, but there are many of us consumers that are far more likely to buy a book if we have some idea of its content (beyond a three-line summary). Certainly my book purchases have increased since Google Books came along. I find it very well worth the effort of building up a collection of books (and these days I have hundreds of books in mine) that cover topics of interest to me in my Google Books account and then the next time I am researching one of my woodworking projects finding some background or inspiration is relatively easy.

Too Many Cheaters Online Stealing Content and Selling It in E-Books

As a prolific online article writer, I am very upset that so many folks are so lazy, that they'd attempt to cheat and steal content, rather than do it right. There have been numerous cases where folks had found information in the public domain, compiled it into e-books, and then sold those e-books digitally online. Many of the old works which were scanned by Microsoft and Google and are now public domain, some of them 50 years old or more, have been repackaged and sold on e-book selling platforms.

The other day, I found some e-books that I had produced, and was giving away online at my website, and someone else had converted those PDF files into a format that was then loaded onto one of the most popular e-book selling websites. It still had my name on it, as the author, but of course the copyright was missing, and there was that e-book for sale, although someone else was getting money for it.

There was an interesting article in Fast Company titled; "Unmasking A Digital Pirate On Amazon," by Adam Penenberg published digitally on January 25, 2012.

"A Kuwaiti national using fake names and selling others' copyrighted stories in the Kindle Store sheds light on black hat hacker forums--and the theft, taboo sex, and swindles festering in the recesses of Amazon."

The article talked about how online marketers were discussing the ways to manipulate the system at the Warrior Forum. There were folks who were selling e-books for $20, and then allowing people to put their name on it, change the title, and put it onto Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or any of the other e-book websites and sell it in very specific and limited niches.

There was another article recently in the New York Times talking about a similar situation where someone was lifting paragraphs and pieces out of other very popular e-books changing the character names and what have you and reposting them. Obviously that is in violation of copyright law, but one of the biggest challenges with copyright law, or patent law is that it is up to the holder of the copyright or patent to enforce it.

However, with all of this fraud running rampant it's almost impossible to spend all of your time trying to enforce copyright violations and still concentrate on creating new literary works whether it be fiction or nonfiction.

As an online article author, and an author of a good many e-books, I am concerned for other authors who are doing it legitimately, as well as the e-book industry as a whole. The e-books have overtaken the printing industry, and tens of millions of e-readers are sold each month, but it is like the Wild West in the e-book industry.

Eventually the readers of these e-books will no longer trust the system, at that point everyone loses, and the print industry and publishing sector have already been all but destroyed. These cheaters, and lazy online marketers out to scam the public are going to ruin it for everyone. This is very upsetting to me, if you have any questions or comments please shoot me an e-mail, this is a problem we must solve.
