How to Price an Ebook For Guaranteed Profits

You don't have to be traditionally published to sell a lot of ebooks, and you don't have to be A-List famous, either. Moreover, you don't need "credentials", all you need is an authentic story and expertise in the topic you're selling information about.

I love to use the example of Amanda Hocking when talking about ebooks, because Amanda has an incredible story. Let me share with you a little about her. Amanda Hocking is 26 years old and has 9 self-published ebooks to her name, and sells 100,000+ copies of those ebooks per month via Amazon's Kindle. It's important to note that Amanda has never been traditionally published.

At $3 per book at the Kindle store - Amanda Hocking makes a lot of money from her monthly book sales. In fact, there was publisher that basically said "...there is no traditional publisher in the world right now that can offer Amanda Hocking terms that are better than what she's currently getting, right now on the Kindle store, all on her own.

Now Amanda Hocking is a "fictional writer", but it doesn't matter. The point is she has no credentials, was never published before and it's been reported by USA Today that her sales have exceeded $450,000 for the month of January 2011 alone! Amanda has made over $1 million dollars on her own selling ebooks that were priced from $2.99 to $4.99.

Have I got your attention yet? I hope so, because if you're struggling to get by, living paycheck to paycheck, there is another way. And you don't have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars starting a brick and mortar business or purchasing a franchise. All you need to do is take your expertise and knowledge and transform it into an ebook or an ecourse.

That leads us to what your long-term goals are when pricing your ebooks. When Amanda Hocking was repeatedly rejected by traditional publishers, she took matters into her own hands and finally decided to "digitally" publish her own ebooks. At the time, Amanda's goal was to make a few hundred dollars a month to cover her expenses. So she priced her ebooks very low because she wanted her ebooks to not only be affordable, but to go viral.

Now, I want to point out that it wasn't "magic" and Amanda's huge success didn't happen overnight, it started out with a few sales, and then a few hundred sales over time, and it just grew from there. Additionally, Amanda had submitted her ebooks to "Book Bloggers" for review and then word started spreading and her ebooks went viral.

So if you have similar goals as Amanda; to earn a few hundred dollars a month to supplement your income, then I would say price your ebooks from $2.99 to $4.99 if you're selling them on Amazon's Kindle. However, if you have a "list" and a functioning website, and you are going to sell your ebook from your own website, then you can price it higher, from $20 to $40+ or you can do what I always recommend and convert the ebook into an ecourse and start selling that from $97-$297+.

Now, if your goal is to build a list, then I would suggest you write an ebook and give it away for FREE. Yes, you can publish it on Amazon's Kindle and give it away FREE. The goal would be to give valuable information in your ebook and then to drive the reader to your site to sign up on your list/optin form for a FREE Gift.

I think the real key to pricing is to offer the material in various formats with pricing from $20 to $2000! For example, sell your Special Report/ebook for $20 on your website; then add some extra benefits like e-Coaching, video tutorials and convert it to an ecourse and sell it for $200; then take that Information and Create a Master Mind Group or a Private Mentoring Club and sell that for $2000.

The sky is the limit when you re-purpose your material! Just make sure you have valuable information that helps others solve a problem they are having. When you help others, you can't help but make money too!

Using Free Marketing To Promote Your Ebook

There are many ways to profit with ebooks. I personally love ebooks because of the incredible lifestyle that it gives me. You can wake up with money in your inbox on autopilot. You can come and go as you please. You can maintain your customer service efforts via phone. And there's no boss over you telling you what to do. With all that said, I think now is a great time to start selling your own ebook right away.

Now with that being said, there are a lot of people who are struggling to get a lot of sales with their ebook. In fact, almost none of these people make money with their ebook. For whole entire year, they will have only made around $100 total from their ebook marketing efforts.

Now there are a ton of reasons why this can happen. Sometimes the person doesn't give their ebook business 110%. Most don't believe that free marketing works, and are convinced on the idea that paid marketing is the way to go. And some just simply put in no effort in learning about internet marketing and promoting their book online.

Quite simply, you can't make money this way. If you want to make money with your ebook, you need a supreme marketing strategy that is unrivaled with anyone else. One thing that you can't afford to do is to make excuses. You have to be responsible for your own efforts and not blame the traffic techniques for not working. If you think that paid advertising is the way to go, then you should try it. But don't be surprised if you end up spending a lot of money on a traffic source that may or may-not be profitable for you.

I've been marketing my website for a short period of time now, and I can truly say that free marketing works. In fact, 98% of my traffic comes from free traffic methods. So that says something in and of itself. Don't get down on yourself if you've played the "pay per click" game and have come back unprofitable. eBooks Future

It happened that I did a favor to my colleague, and brought back from the USA two eBook reader devices. One for my colleague's wife, and the second one for his daughter.

Specifically, it was Amazon's kindle best seller. This was not the first Kindle eBook reader he purchased. He already had one for himself, and another one for his dad. My colleague justified buying this large number of units by stating that since the day he bought the device, he started to read books again, and with great pleasure.

So, some people may relate to the eBook reader as another electronic gadget, to play with, while others really do enjoy it, and exploit the inventory of eBooks on the network.

eBooks and eBook reader devices do change the reading experience in many aspects. So it is not Amazon's Kindle itself, that made the change for my colleague, rather it is the existence of eBook's and reader devices. One may argue that other electronic readers, with larger screen, and with color image, are better than Kindle. Might be that some professionals reviews of such devices may try to compare between the various vendors? But, for me, the electronic readers represent a revolution, regardless the various differences between them.

Why is this revolution?

First, no need for large physical storage for all the books you buy. And if you do not use to buy paper books, rather you loan them for a short period of time from a public library, the eBook industry saves you the time of going to your local library and searching for your required book. Instead, by a click on the keyboard, you can search online for your book, and purchase it instantly.

Not only savings of shelves at your home, but also savings of large buildings will be achieved eventually, when the electronic readers and eBooks will prevail.

Now, think also about the saving of paper. The Green trend in the world should adopt the e-reader devices, as it presents a major aspect toward a greener world, with no need to cut all those trees in the Amazon. This goes along with the new notation used lately, the paperless society. This relates to trend of abandoning paper records of photos by using electronic albums, cloud storage services, and emails.

So, I would say that eBook industry will flourish in the future, and eventually this industry will cut a large share from the paper based books.

Why I Love Selling Ebooks

I love selling ebooks. There's nothing more phenomenal than getting sales, and having the product instantly downloaded for the person who bought your product. If you're doing ebook marketing and want to know how to improve your sales and profits, then today's lesson will be a good read for you.

Now I'm sure that you would love to wake up and see 10 to 30 sales in your email inbox automatically. But to reach that level of success, you have to put your work in. Ebook marketing is more than just creating a book... you need a complete marketing strategy that will help you to promote your book all over the internet. One great place that you will want to submit your ebook to is Amazon Kindle.

Have you ever heard of the Amazon Kindle? If so, then you should know that thousands of people have this device, and then can buy your ebook and read it on their Kindle whenever they want. In return, you get alot of Kindle sales, and they will pay you your royalties every 2 months.

Another rival similar to the Amazon Kindle is something called "Smashwords". It's hosted by Sony, and it's a platform for buying and selling on the Sony Ebook Reader. You should also put your product on something online called "Mobipocket" - and you can get sales from this for free.

But of course, the one place that you definitely will want to promote your ebook is on your own website. You can mark up the price of your ebook, and easily price it for nice sized profits. This is what alot of people do everyday, and they are making a great killing with it each and everyday.

Do you have experience with website marketing? I won't lie to you... it's not as easy as getting sales from Kindle, Sony, and Mobipocket. For some people, they never get any sales from their website. This is because of a weak marketing plan, and the highly inflated belief that they can make lots of money overnight.

When it comes to marketing your ebook on your website, you will want to stick with the basics. Generate a lead, and market to your leads over and over again. This is a proven and standard model when it comes to getting people back to your website, to buy more and more from you.

Selling your ebook via your website doesn't have to be tough. Just make sure that you get lots of traffic, and turn this traffic into leads, and then turn these leads into customers. As you can see, there's nothing mystical or mysterious when it comes to marketing your business on the internet. So the next time that you hear someone "hyping up" their latest and greatest new marketing strategy... know that there's already a good, proven model that can allow you to get sales automatically around the clock.

Use these tips to market your ebook successfully online. They'll be more than worth it.

Good luck with using these tips to make your ebook profitable soon.

Traffic Tips For Self Publishing A Book (or Any Other Product)

You have a product like an Ebook that you want to self publish on Kindle, as you know, nothing will sell without traffic. Websites and products need to be seen and being seen is often the hardest part of any on line venture. So how can you drive traffic to your website or product?

Here we shall cover a few great methods of getting those all important 'eyes' on your products.

Social Media

Social Media is one of the most used ways today to generate traffic to a website; all the top blogging sites use Twitter and Facebook. There are many great ways to use these two sites to create a buzz for your product. And the great thing with these is that they are interactive, so you can talk to your potential customers.

Facebook Pages

One of the best ways of using Facebook is to set up a dedicated Fan Page for the book and invite your friends and family to it asking them to share your page, this could start to increase the page likes. This is good as it could have a viral affect with people suggesting their friends to like the page too. You could put on there in the form of notes along with an image a couple of chapters or extracts. Make the page inviting by adding a landing page and maybe get someone from Fiverr.com to do some graphics for your book to use as images on the page. The books introduction or first chapter should be pre-loaded for people to read when they come to the page then maybe over a couple of weeks add another chapter, then reduce it down a little by adding extracts of a chapter with a call to action like 'To read the rest of this exciting book please go to...' and direct them to your Kindle store. You could do this on your website and just use a Facebook page to create a buzz about your book then direct them to read extracts or chapters on your website before sending them onto Kindle.

Facebook Shop

There is also a great free ecommerce app where you can sell your downloadable and physical book directly inside your Facebook page. It is called Ecwid. We have it on our page for you to take a look at. You could also use Facebook ads to direct people to your blog site or Facebook page. Sending people outside of Facebook is more expensive than sending them to a Facebook page so the advice is to send them to a Facebook page then send them to a website/ blog site later.

Twitter

Twitter is the same, you build up a large collection of followers who love to read books covering your style of writing then post Tweets with a short message saying a chapter/extract has been posted on your Facebook page/blog site. Many companies now use these two Social Networks to create a buzz about their products which then goes viral and creates an increase in traffic.

Videos

Turning chapters or extracts into video and placing them onto YouTube is also another great way of getting people to see your book, again they can be directed to your site, Facebook page or directly to your book on Kindle. There are other video sites to share to and not just YouTube. Create short PowerPoint slides with some wording and imagery on them then read extracts of your book into a microphone creating a short audio book. For videos over 5 minutes you will need to invest in some screen capture software like Camtasia by Techsmith or for a series of short videos you could use Techsmith's free version called Jing, there is also a great free online video service by the Twitter people called Screenr.

Podcasts Audio Books

Once you have recorded your videos they can be used again by turning the audio into a Podcast or audio book which can be sold in many places such as iTunes and Amazon or shared on sites like Podbean.com. If you have professional screen capture software you will no doubt be able to separate the visual from the audio and convert straight to MP.3 ready to upload to your Podcast sites. If you haven't got access to that kind of software then not to worry, all is not lost. There are Websites where you can place the URL of your YouTube video into their search bar and it will search for the video, rip the audio from it then allow you to down load it for free as an MP.3 straight to your computer ready to upload to your chosen sites. Just like the other methods here, you can then verbally direct people to where you want them to go to get the rest of the book or audio book. ListenToYouTube.com is a great place to start.

PDF Sharing

There are many free Ebook and PDF share sites where you can upload your books for everyone to read and share, you could write a revised short version or simply convert a couple of chapters and excerpts into a small PDF and upload for free again with a 'To read the rest of this book please go to...' They can be sent to either Kindle or your website. Scribd.com is one such site. A Google search will give you a great list of places to start.

Article Marketing

Writing short articles around 500 to 800 words long based on the topic then shared with article directories is also a well-used traffic and branding method. The articles could get shared around the web giving your site much needed backlinks (helps with getting your site higher up the search rankings) and points potential traffic to your site and gets yours and your books name known. EzineArticles.com is the best known article directory. Again a Google search will give you a list of great article directories.

Satellite Sites

Another traffic method is to create satellite sites, these are free webpages that have similar content to that which is on your site and directs the readers back to where you want to send them. Satellite sites are pages in places like Squidoo, Hubzpages and Google's Blogger. Make sure that you do not just duplicate the content from your site, change it up a bit otherwise some of these sites will not allow it to be published and it could also harm your Google ranking.

Authors Blog

A little trick that a successful self-publisher once did which got him a ton of traffic was he wrote an article about a sportsman from his favourite team, he used a specific keyword which put his article into the top search results in Google. The article had nothing to do directly with the book but resulted in a lot of traffic from people searching on that keyword and topic; they visited the site, read his article then looked around his site to see what else he had written. So your books dedicated site could have an 'Authors thoughts of the week' style blog designed for the sole purpose of traffic generation. This could cover anything and everything, as long as you plan your article making sure it has good long tail keywords written into it and is based on very hot topics of the moment. Your rants alone could get you a great following!

Press Release

Consider having a Press Release, this is a powerful trick often used by big companies but can be costly. You write a descriptive article about your product then pay a company like PRWeb who will blast your article out to the four corners of the internet. Your article can be picked up and put onto other peoples websites like article marketing but on steroids creating backlinks and potentially a lot of traffic.

Paid Advertising

Finally the main and final tip is if you can afford to spend some money and have advertising done such as Google Adwords and banner ads made to direct your target market to your site. This is a science in itself and can be costly if done bad. Facebook does have a better advertising system that allows you to target people who might like your product as opposed to Google's which is based on what people search for. If you set an ad in Google on the keyword 'science fiction' and a lot of people did a search for 'science fiction' they would see your add and possibly click on it, but science fiction covers a lot of sub genres and a huge amount of people who clicked on your ad (you will pay for that click or per thousand impressions) might find that you are not offering what they are looking for, this would cost you a lot of wasted money. It can be an expensive learning curve. However, be warned, the normal cost of a Kindle Ebook could easily be the same price you pay for a couple of 'clicks' and if they do not buy it is wasted money.
